Okay, one portrait inspired another. Interesting people have been interviewed lately, and some died… perhaps that is what is inspiring me to do portraits! Mick Jagger had an excellent interview. (I hope they allow you to see it!)
I had to give him a try… I used a screenshot I pulled from a concert, shown right.
I started with a pencil sketch above left, and moved into the inked sketch, right.
I often place dabs of inks and watercolors I use in my sketchbooks on the edges as I sketch, below.
I was intrigued by the way the lights hit his face and hair, and wanted to try making his portrait more alive, where you could feel his motion and excitement. As you know from my earlier post, while I rarely try my hand a portrait, I quite like the way this one came out! Below, the page as it is seen in my Nostalgie sketchbook.
