World Watercolor Month 2016

I bit off more than I could chew this month between
Cherished Blogfest 2016 and the first annual World Watercolor Month, but oddly, committing to a watercolor a day gifted me in unimaginable ways.  Not having time,
I’d often have maybe 15-20 minutes in the morning to knock out a painting.
I wanted to keep my commitment to Queen Minerva and give a try at painting
her white hollyhock, above, so that was done in an insomnia moment,
middle-of-the-night, by a small lamp over my shoulder!

I learned so much!  I tried so much —
Non-waterproof inks, wet-on-wet, wet-on dry watercolor, ink and waterbrush.
A new favorite, De Atramentis Tobacco ink!
Black waterproof inks with washes over.
Layering brights to make brilliant colors pop!
The new Document white ink from De Atramentis over darker inks.
Masking fluids done properly.

Mostly, my editor, my ultra precise architect, my perfectionist did not
have time to comment.  Paint was on paper before s/he was awake!

My month, below!
