She wasn’t a perfect mom, but I was broken hearted about how she was treated,
her confusion when losing her memory, and the family dynamics.
I could not share that with my biological family.
Shut up stupid.
When you keep this crap inside you die a little, both psychologically and physically.
It is debilitating. Sharing with Mitchell is good,
and as an artist I need to do something with the energy.
This was a way to get it out on paper…
I didn’t write what I wrote before water hit it
so it is hard for even me to see it but it felt good to do it!
I am going to keep playing with this journaling/ink/art thang…

What a positive role model you’re being here! Finding a way – and a lovely way, at that, of expressing and processing difficult emotions, especially something as sensitive and mothers and families.
I’m intrigued by the image – find it dynamic and it’s resonating with me.
Also intrigued with the idea of just writing out all those words – getting them on paper and in a piece of art, then blurring it with watercolors. Very cool! Thank you for this!

These are all inked in mostly waterproof inks then a waterbrush is run across them….
The shape of the “mountain” is a real place, Tablerock, In Southern Oregon, and it was also the name of the facility she was in for dementia.
