That annoying loud-mouth editor/critic in your head? GONE! How great would that be?
I just watched an hour and a half interview with Neil Gaiman (Tim Ferris interviewer) and thought of you. Apparently, Gaiman uses very specialized fountain pens to write the first drafts of his novels. He goes to a place called Fountain Pen Hospital in NYC to buy them or get them fixed. He uses very specific pens for signing, too. You two have almost convinced me that I need to find a pen or three just for the tactile experience.

I’ve been watching it — dipping into it. I know Fountain Pen Hospital — they are quite famous for their repair abilities (though there are others) and they specialize in older pens. I am going to invite you to join Goulet Nation on FB… it is my favorite group, and you can learn so much. When you are ready to do it, we should talk. You don’t want to spend a fortune on something you don’t like! xoxo

Thank you for inviting me to the group! I may take the plunge when I sell my first book! In the meantime, I’d love to find out more. Gaiman recommended a beginner pen from Lamy. Apparently, he uses a Pilot 823 for signing books. Not sure what he uses for writing, but he talked a bit about how the tip spreads when you apply pressure. Very interesting…..Stay tuned!

I just joined. For some reason, I didn’t get the invitation in my email. So I just went to the FB page and saw that you had invited me. So I’m in! Thank you!!

FYI, you other peeps who are interested in learning about pens and inks, this FB group is worth the price of admission. No snarking (we run them out of town), just good fun. Goulet Nation.
