WWM: Day 9 Moms Stuff, Pelican

I love this pelican.
More than most objects of mom,
this and the whale
(which someone in her building
STOLE while we were packing)
will be the best of my mom and I.
She loved the ocean, we moved
there when I was about 9,
and every bit of time off with her
was spent looking for whales
or pelicans from the bluffs or shells
(which I also did by myself).
She bought these after I left home
from an artist in Laguna Beach.

I am sad not to have the whale,
but happy to have the pelican.
I know I will paint him many times over.

Mitchell liked the first one I did, below, so he will have that one.
The other is going to my mom….

These are not on Hahnemühle Post Cards, but on a stack of leftover card stock
that is unknown.  I am going to use it up painting things to send to Mom.

This is just in time for Moment Sketchers!

“Paint as you like and die Happy!*”
