WWM: Day 3 Crowe Estate Highboy

Lately I’ve been sketching design motifs in the studio;
Mason Monterey is one of my favorite decorative lines and I rarely paint them!

This estate of historic Mason Monterey is for sale by MPF Conservation.
The sketches are from the lovely Old Wood and Decorative Green floral bedroom set.

I wondered how to show the wood grain and decided to use a fine line pen
under the watercolor in De Atramentis Document Brown.
The bits of wood to the right are veneer which we used to repair
the one dresser top that was so demolished we replaced it.

I SO enjoyed this sketch — and it held up well with the various layers
even though it is in the Hahnemühle Draft & Sketch book.

“Paint as you like and die Happy!”
