I didn’t set out to draw my jewelry, but as I am selling pieces I had them in a basket and began reaching for them for Inktober. These two are pieces I wore and wore and wore…
My mom said she brought these earrings back for my grandmother from Taxco, Mexico.
When I put them up for sale another etsy dealer, JL from Advantage Yours,
wrote me and told me the following: “The clip findings would have carried the hallmarks, which most likely indicated that these earrings were made in either Mexico City or Cuernavaca. The design here is known as Etruscan–and the florets are not daisy flowers, but called “rosettes.” Only a few Mex silver makers produced this style — and none
were from Taxco.” Apparently I should not have made them into pierced earrings,
but frankly, had I not, they would have been long lost.
Etsy dealers are often helpful with each other.
I bought the bracelet in Venice Beach, and wore it 24/7 except when I decided to wear a different bracelet — left it on al the time, and loved it so much. I stopped wearing a lot of jewelry when I started painting and drawing, and then the bracelet, which fit exactly, became a bit tight on my wrist as I became arthritic. Bummer.
