Happy Holidays

This year we gave in to the cats, and bought a smaller tree:
The Cat Tree.

Call us wonky — or tired of the fight —
but we covered it in cat toys and lights, and wouldn’t you know,
THEY HAVE IGNORED IT.
So this is the thing with cats, they are smarter than humans,
and know when they are not getting the good stuff, the ornaments they can break,
the annoyance and the yelling “GET OFF THE TREE!”

We are unplugging, completely.
It has been a harder year than most or maybe we are just getting older?
But this year we want peace, and by that we mean unplugging from the internet,
from the bad news, not even going anywhere just hanging out together,
ordering in the best Chinese food (thank you Ling Gardens),
having apple pie and then marionberry pie (it is a two-pie-year),
Mitchell will cook breakfast,
and we will sleep and make art and read and watch silly movies.
I am lucky: I have a mate and cats I love.

I will come on to do a couple posts, but only a maybe here…
