Experimenting with color after taking a class…
I am often bored by stone buildings, but several interesting water-colorists
use what-ever color where-ever they want. This is one of the stone churches we pass
on our way to the Saturday Market at PSU. It has lovely doors with stained glass,
from which I drew my colors. I am happy with this as a first try…

I like this a lot Kate. I think I like your painting better than the photo, even though I really like stone buildings. Your first sketch is also very good. I like that by itself.

Thanks Mary! I think I made it prettier…. Thinking of seeing if they will let me toss Holi powders on the church!

Sorry I haven’t visited in a while, but with FB I sometimes feel like I see so much that way…but you have LOTS here that I haven’t seen. I like the brick building and the variation in the coloring. I enjoyed going back a ways in your posts and seeing some of what else I’ve missed.

Hi Joan — I understand because I see so much as friends on FB also. I am taking a suggestion from Shari Balukoft on adding colors to stone buildings. I like it, and will try more of it.

I love both your color(ed) drawing and the door. I’m glad you included the photo.

Thank you — I will probably always include one if I have it — sometimes I am painting onsite and I don’t take the camera.
