Let’s start with an image I like. This was not from the EDM prompts
(which continued to be pretty boring) but from a friend’s prompts for herself this month — a vegetable in season, and these are special because they are gone so fast. Garlic greens. We grill or broil them with a bit of garlic salt and pepper. Yummo.
This was a nice memory, of starting my own architectural firm in Malibu,
sharing space with several other architects, and we wanted to participate in Kiwanis.
I’m a good cook, but never made chili before — and I made a great chili, which went fast.
I was disqualified because I used store-bought sausage, and we drank lots of tequila
in the hot sun and danced in out bikinis and made it on national news!
I never saw it but my mom called me about it.
Now there are a bunch of completely silly sketches, done while on pain killers (that’s my excuse) and the only good thing I can say is that it kept me from total boredom!.
We’ll end with another decent watercolor, of the Doe Library doors in Berkeley California..
Drawn in a Pentalic Field Book (using it up, not that fond of them)
with Pentalic HB woodless pencil, LYRA watercolor graphite pencil,
various pens and with De Artramentis Document ink, Super5, Noodlers ink
and Daniel Smith, QoR, and Holbein watercolors.

Woo Hoo my katie is back… it’s been a bit dreary without your sunshine and vibrant colors.
Did you wear your Kiwanis apron over your BoobyGurl bikini ?!? My cousin ran. BBQ catering service with his buddy in Indiana, and they once catered fir a nudist colony BBQ. When in Rome …. Of course they wore aprons to protect jewels from hot sparks 😍

Well it was long before BoobyGurl but of course, apron over bikini! As so many people were in bathing suits (Malibu after all) I think mostly we were having so much more fun than the others, who were actually SERIOUS Chili Cookoff contestants . . . we were irreverent! Thank goddess they didn’t have the contest on Mailbu’s nude beach . . .

What is up with Serious people at a Chili Cookoff ?!? Our group once got dissed by other riders because we were being ‘too silly’ on our bike trip. Are you kidding me???

They are going to try to win the national championships. Food is VERY serious stuff when money becomes a focus. And BTW, I broke up with a man for trying to keep me serious. The day I was coming back from the beach, “Even Cowgirls Get The Blues” in hand, walking with one foot on the curb, one off, and singing — and he told me to stop. I told him not to follow me around anymore. (A 3-year-relationship, gone gone gone . . .) Silly is good. Hell, at my brother’s mates funeral, the funeral director asked us if we wanted to see Frank in the casket before we proceeded — and we said yes — and when they opened the casket we both cracked up because we BOTH (siblings we are) had the same thought — that he was going to sit up and scare the shit out of us! So laughter in the funeral home . . . I have many stories like this. . .

My family, too, tends to favor humor at odd moments. It balances our tendency towards pessimistic first reactions 😀💖
Glad you kicked that guy to the curb!!

I should do a post on odd humor . . . This rally brought up a bunch of memories of my crazy family.
SO glad I kicked him to the curb. Another long and good story. So many stories so little time. We need to have a slumber party!
