WWM: Day 6 Crazy Quilts

Finally moved from the postcards to the Hahnemühle Watercolour Journal
and got serious about these quilt studies.  Seems I love painting them!
Maybe I’ll do many squares to sell!
This one didn’t turn out quite as well as I’d liked…
It is a matter of getting to know the ink in my inked pens on this paper.

Love this one.  Showing in each of these the underpainting,
I’ve been experimenting with inks for stitches.
I also used waterproof Super5 Frankfurt ink and
Noodler’s Lexington Grey Ink for contrast
under the Da Vinci Sap Green of the field.

And I used Fineline Masking Fluid to allow for the white to have some of the
stitches pop with color…  I love this square!.

The Spread, ready for notes in my journal!

The actual quilt I’ve been painting!

“Paint as you like and die Happy!”

Want to join in the fun?
Use the hashtag #WorldWatercolorMonth
when you post your drawing on any platform,
and add your watercolor to the gallery!
And come join Doodlewash…
find you tribe…  I’m there!

I love crazy quilts. I used to sleep under one my Grandma Bray sewed. I would trace the different pieces of cloth and wonder what stories they might have to tell. I love your crazy quilt watercolors. They are lovely.
