VSW: Buffalo Cemetary, 1

Fran offered great images of the Buffalo Cemetery for our November virtual walk as a group.  I especially  loved the graceful angel which I think has swans around her base.

I played mostly with non-waterproof inks, laying them down in linework, several colors
all at once, then using Noodler’s Lexington grey and/or De Atramentis Document Brown ink for a few waterproof lines.  Then I began working fast with water and/or grisaille to move the colors around, and added only a bit of blues for the skies.  You have to work very fast or the lines completely blur and you get a blob of color (see the oranges in the large angel?), versus movement with a marks leftover, seen in the angel.

I started a Facebook group page (you must join to view) to allow everyone to share their virtual sketches, and also where we will, from time to time, take virtual sketch walks together.  Come join us On Facebook if you are inclined!
If you want to know more about what a virtual sketchwalk is review my first post.
There are a few more notes/pointers on our first walk through Laguna Beach, California.

I also created an accompanying Flickr group!

Thanks for sharing about the virtual walk and the supplies you used to accomplish your work. There are so many supplies I’ve not used but have heard of. It’s fascinating! I’m going to look at the link you gave to see more. It’s beautiful…even the blob!

    • Hi Julene — thank you — Also, I tried to post on your blog (Barn moved me a LOT) but you have one that won’t take my email or wordpress… there is a feedburner that does and one that doesn’t. Thot to tell you. And you are a fellow Oregonian?
